A splash plate atomizer is commonly used for atomizing liquids by breaking up a liquid stream into small droplets. Under the high pressure, the liquid flows through a small orifice and strikes against a metal plate. This impact will break up the liquid into fine droplets. The size and shape of droplets could be affected by the size of orifice, plate design, and the applied pressure. My objective is to construct an atomizer system that produce fine droplets and test these factors. This atomizer can be used in applications such as cooling, humidification, chemical spraying, dust control, and gas scrubbing. It is also related to another project in the lab: Marine Cloud Brightening.
